Customer Service

1.   What is cellbanking?

cellbanking is a revolutionary service offered by NBK and mtc touch, which allows all GSM users to access their NBK bank accounts via their cellular phones.

2.   Why should I use cellbanking?

NBK cellbanking offers you convenience-banking 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, wherever you are. Using state-of-the-art online real time technology, you can access your accounts from anywhere around the world. All you need is a cellular phone and an NBK account.

3.  What can I do with cellbanking?

With NBK’s cellbanking, you can:

ÈInquire on the balance of all accounts

ÈRequest a Mini Statement listing the last 5 transactions of the last 30 days.

ÈStop a lost ATM or credit card.

ÈOrder a checkbook.

ÈOrder a statement that can be received at a branch, by mail, by fax, or even by e-mail.

ÈOrder information on NBK products and receive it by fax, email, or SMS (on your cellular phone).

ÈDial any NBK branch with just one button.

ÈReceive the latest updates on NBK products and services.

In addition, you can specify the terms on which NBK should alert you. You will receive these alerts each time the transaction you specified is executed. For example, maybe you want us to alert you when:

ÈYour salary has been deposited into your account

ÈYour ATM card has been used at a clothing store

ÈYour telephone bill has been paid

ÈThe balance in your current account has dropped below $1,000

ÈThe loan you requested has been approved and deposited in your account

These are only some examples of how you might like us to alert you with our cellbanking service.

4.      Are there any charges for cellbanking?

The cellbanking charge is 3$ on a monthly basis.

5.      What do I need in order to use cellbanking?

All you need is a cellular phone and an NBK account. To benefit from the easy-to-use menu, you might choose to upgrade your SIM card to a special cellbanking customized SIM card (this can be done at any of the NBK branches).

6.   If I am not a mtc touch subscriber, can I still benefit from cellbanking?

This service is beneficial and can be used by all GSM users. If you have any local GSM or roaming line, you will be able to request information on your accounts by sending a short message to NBK (using a code and password). If, however, you have a Premiere or Premiere Plus line, mtc touch will be glad to transfer it to a regular line at no additional cost, so you can benefit from the service as well as the easy-to-use menu.

7.  How do I apply for cellbanking?

Simply visit any of our branches and fill out the cellbanking application form.  Our branches are found in the following locations: Ashrafieh, Bhamdoun, Broumana, Chiah, Dora, Hamra, Jounieh, Mazraa, and Sanayeh (Head Office).

8.    When can I start accessing cellbanking?

You will be able to access the cellbanking service as soon as you are given your upgraded SIM card. If you choose not to upgrade your SIM card, you will be able to access cellbanking on the same day as you apply.

 9.    How do I begin using NBK’s cellbanking service?

Please refer to the cellbanking User Guide for step-by-step instructions on how to use the cellbanking service.

10. How do I know my transactions and requests have been executed?

You will receive a confirmation message on your cellular phone once your transactions or requests have been executed.

11.  Are there any security risks with cellbanking?

Access to your NBK account is protected by your PIN (Personal Identification Number), and all transactions made via your cellular phone are encrypted.
